Winnie Bennett was born December 16, 1932 and went peacefully home to be with the Lord Jesus on July 5th, 2020, (her husbands birthday).
Winnie was born in El Paso and lived in many cities during her childhood. Her father, Lawrence Herrin, was a broker of foreign goods. Winnie had 2 brothers, Lawrence and Tommie, both which preceded her in death.
Marrying the love of her life at the age of 20, Doc Bennett, they enjoyed 55 years of marriage before his death.
They were self employed for most of their life, running a crane service out of El Paso. Later they moved to Bent, NM in 1968, then to Alamogordo in 1978.
Winnie was a Christian and member of Saving Grace Church where she loved to go and hear the Word of God taught.
Winnie has three 3 children, Steven, Bridgette, and Mark. She has 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Winnie was known for her bright Auburn hair, her never ending smile and generous love. Winnie loved to travel with her niece Judee, her son-in law Ronnie and her daughter Bridgette. Together they cruised the seas of this world and saw the creations God gave us all to enjoy.
Winnie battled with congestive heart troubles for some time and spent the last 7 months at home under the care of her loving daughter Bridgette and Hospice. A special thanks to all the folks at Alamogordo Home Care and Hospice for helping and guiding us through these tough and dark times.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a graveside service at a later date yet to be determined.
The Bennett family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
