William "Bill" Welsh Obituary

William "Bill" Welsh, 82, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. He was born on July 10, 1941, to Ray Howard and Lois Jean Friedline Welsh in Somerset, Pennsylvania. 

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joanne Putnam Welsh and their son, Gregory Howard Welsh (Lydia); son-in-law, Brian Hallberg; grandchildren, Brandon Hallberg (Emily), Gretchen Hallberg Confer (Josh), Dawnielle Fischer, Christopher Fischer (Shameice), Kevin Gilley; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; brothers, Dennis Welsh (Judy), Ronald Welsh (Donna); sister, Cathy Welsh; 15 nieces and nephews; 14 great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Nancy Welsh Hallberg.

Bill is a retired art teacher teaching for 30 years at Rockwood area schools in Rockwood, PA. He was also an avid Sunday school and prophecy teacher. Bill was an accomplished water skier, scuba diver, re enactor, private pilot, and a model train enthusiast. He was the owner of Mountain Trail Arms, a black powder arms manufacturer; Listie Locomotive Works and La Luz Locomotive Works, model trains. Bill was an accomplished radio-controlled airplane flyer and builder. He was a member of the Single Action Shooters Society...his SASS handle was High Desert Drifter. 

Bill reenacted French and Indian War in a French artillery unit, Revolutionary War in Glades Rangers - a Pennsylvania volunteer unit, and Civil War in an artillery unity.
