William Earl Shaffer, Jr., 75, passed away on August 18, 2025, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born on January 5, 1950, in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Billy Earl and Irene Tuttle Shaffer.
William Earl Shaffer, called Billy by his Arkansas family, grew up in Fayetteville and attended the University of Arkansas. He then moved to Ruidoso, NM where he worked in the family business. After moving to Ruidoso, he met his future wife, the love of his life, Andrea Jean Kopperl. They traveled the country for many years exploring and enjoying life settling in Alamogordo. While living in Alamogordo Billy, also known as Papa Bill to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, opened a very successful wood working and cabinet shop. He loved his family dearly. As the Bible states, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Survivors include his daughters, Djuna Roberts, Ursula Healey, Iva Patterson; his sons, Eric Watts, Seth Shaffer, PJ ( Patrick) Shaffer, Austin Shaffer; his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his mother, Irene Shaffer; sister, Mary Waldrop; brother, Stephen Shaffer; uncle, Jerry Shaffer; aunt, Linda Inzer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
William Earl Shaffer was preceded in death by his wife, Andrea Jean Shaffer, and his father, Billy Earl Shaffer.
Services have already taken place.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
