William “Lloyd” Fink, 89, went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2021, in Alamogordo, NM. Lloyd was born on May 11, 1932, in Pecos, TX, the only child of William and Hazel Fink. Soon after his birth, his family moved to Jal, NM, where he grew up.
He attended the University of Oklahoma, studying Mechanical Engineering, but his studies were interrupted by a stint in the U.S. Army. As a result, he changed his major to Electrical Engineering. After graduation, he found employment with General Dynamics in Ft. Worth, TX, but eventually his career path led him to the federal government where he worked on many ground-breaking nuclear projects. All that knew Lloyd, knew him to be a genius, as he had a scientific mind. He truly led a fascinating life.
After retirement, Lloyd moved to Escondido, CA to be near close friends, but eventually he moved to Alamogordo, NM to be near his family.
Lloyd was a very kind and generous man and will be missed by many. He loved his books, his guns, his church (St. John’s Episcopal), and his guacamole burgers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hazel Fink. He is survived by several cousins, Francine, Gerald (Roberta), and Walter (Marilyn), as well as many close friends that became his family, that will dearly miss him.
Services for Lloyd will be Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 1 pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church, followed by interment into the columbarium. Should friends desire, the service will be live-streamed.
Rest In Peace, Lloyd.
The Fink family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
