Virgil George Obituary

Virgil George was called home by our heavenly Father on April 27, 2023, in Alamogordo, NM. Virgil was born on January 25, 1935, to Gaston and Editha George, in Weeks, Louisiana. He graduated from John Hanson High School in Liberia, Louisiana and served proudly in the United States Army for four years. He was assigned to Fort Ord in California, but his traveling background in Dallas, Louisiana, and New Mexico led him to Hobbs to work for a local barbershop.

Virgil was awarded a Non-appropriated Funds contract to start cutting hair at the Enlisted Club, catering to various military men and women. Virgil was the Desert Sands Enlisted Club master barber. He began cutting hair at Holloman Air Force Base in 1957 until his health deteriorated in 2022.

Virgil received Christ at a young age and was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Virgil won many trophies and tennis paraphernalia, which he competed throughout the southwest in numerous competitions.

Virgil is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Jean George of the family home; son, James (JaMeece) Brisco of Tulsa, OK; sister, Mabel LeBlanc of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Cris George of Silverdale, Washington, Mayetta (Ron) Wells of Sierra Vista, AZ,  Mard Lee Washington of Alamogordo, NM, Teresa Ann Huckleby of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; brothers-in-law, Troy Huckleby of Las Cruces, NM, Amos Huckleby of Alamogordo, NM; numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; and very special friend, Candace Wilson.
