Viola R Salas

On Friday, April 23, 2021 Viola R Salas, at the age of 81, left her place on earth and went to be with our Heavenly Father.  Viola Ramona Salas was born on October 27, 1939 to Felix and Guadalupe Carrillo in Tularosa, NM. 
 
Back in the day, Viola loved to go hunting for arrowheads and old bottles. She enjoyed sewing, making jewelry, playing bingo, going to the casino, cooking,  and making tamales. She passed all of her mother's and grandmother's recipes to anyone who would join her in the kitchen. She loved watching her Dallas Cowboys.  But most of all, she dearly loved her five children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings. 

She is survived by her children, Loretta Fitzsimmons, Lorena Manzanares (Gary), Charles Dairy (Lisa), Cecilia McDougle (Mac), and Alfonso Salas Jr.(Christina); her sister, Patsy Rodriguez;  her brother, Stanley Carrillo. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso Salas of 55 years; her parents, Felix and Lupe Carrillo; her brothers, Manuel, Abraham and Valente; her sisters, Juanita, Carmen and Lupita; grandbaby, Angel Marie Salas.
 
A special thanks to Jessica Sanchez for being by grammy’s side these last few years. Our dear mother and grandmother will be greatly missed but only for a short while until we are reunited again.  

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel. 

Burial will take place at 11:30 am, Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the Monte Vista Cemetery.

Due to the COVID Pandemic, occupancy at the visitation is limited to no more than 20 people at a time. Further, attendance at the graveside is limited to 20 people as well. Please practice social distancing at all times. Thank you for adhering to the Department of Health mandate. 

Pallbearers include Ramon Salas, Haven McDougle, Charles Esquero Jr., Joel Pena, Gabriel Diaz, Felipe Abalos, and Gary Manzanares.  Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 
 
The Salas family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
