Troy L Poovey

Troy L Poovey, 83, passed away on September 14, 2021 in Alamogordo, NM. He was born on March 17, 1938 to Carl and Pattie (Cloninger) Poovey in Hickory, NC.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Poovey and Pattie (Cloninger) Poovey; his mother-in-law, Maude Corne; his siblings, Lamar Poovey, Nancy Glover (Tom), Willie Raider (Joe), Harold Poovey, and Melvin Poovey (Betsy).

Troy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Martha (Corne) Poovey; his children, Debbie Rhodus, Troy L Poovey Jr. (Judith), Scott Poovey (Wendy); his grandchildren, Jeremy, Jennifer (Anthony), Joseph (Mynne), Jeff (Narumi), Thricia (Michael), Cassie, Devin (Jesse), Zach, Cody (Ericka); and his 16 great grandchildren.

Troy joined the US Navy in 1956 and ended his career of 20 plus years in the US Air Force in Phoenix, AZ. He then worked for the Bureau of Land Management as a Cartographer for 20 plus years.

Troy and Marty moved to Alamogordo, NM in 2001. Troy was a member of the Tularosa Masonic Lodge and a faithful member of the Christian Church. Troy was a member of Boles Acres Fire Dept for 8 years. 

The Memorial Service for Troy will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Christian Church, 1300 Hawaii.
