Tomasa D’Arezzo passed away on September 13, 2022, in Alamogordo, NM at the age of 86. She was born in Alamogordo on November 18, 1935, and was a graduate of Alamogordo High School.
Tomasa married Joseph R. D’Arezzo in 1956, and they had five children. In addition to caring for her family, she worked in banking and in law offices, served as the director of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), was a legal secretary for the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney’s office, and, finally, served as a financial specialist for the Otero and Lincoln County courts. She retired from her position with the courts in 1997.
She was a devout Catholic and lifetime parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (ICC), where she volunteered her time and talents for various events and activities. She was known around the community for her kindness, generosity, warm personality, spirited sense of humor, and beautiful smile. She was also an amazing cook who was known for her Mexican food, especially her tamales, and her incredible pies.
Tomasa is survived by her husband, Joseph D’Arezzo of Alamogordo; son, Michael D’Arezzo and wife, Risë (deceased) of Milton, WA; daughter, Gloria D’Arezzo and Matthew Ploszaj of Coppell, TX; son, Robert D’Arezzo and his wife, Karen of Albuquerque, NM; son, Anthony D’Arezzo and his wife, Ruth of Roswell, NM; son, Joseph D’Arezzo and his wife, Laura of Richland, WA; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Felicitas Valle; brothers, Joseph (“Sonny”) Valle, Luis Valle, and Raymundo (“Mundo”) Valle; sisters, Carmen Malone and Beatrice Gonzales.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Visitation at 9:30 am, Rosary followed by a brief eulogy at 10:00 am, and a Funeral Mass officiated by Father Patrick Montgomery, Celebrant, at 11:00 am. Graveside internment at Monte Vista cemetery will immediately follow the Mass, with a reception at the ICC Parish Hall shortly thereafter.
Pallbearers include grandsons, David D’Arezzo, Aaron D’Arezzo, Matthew D’Arezzo, Mark D’Arezzo, Alex D’Arezzo, and great grandson, Jeremiah D’Arezzo.
