SMSgt. Thomas A. Aven, U.S. Air Force Retired.
It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas A. Aven announce his sudden passing on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the age of 76 years. Thomas was born in Waurika, Oklahoma to Lily Mae and Bruce Aven on October 25, 1946. He graduated from Ringling High School and joined the Air Force in 1966. He was stationed in Essex England where he met and married his wife, Ann Aven in 1970. Thomas served his country for 26 years and retired in 1992 with the rank of Senior Master Sargent. During his time in the Air Force, he completed a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Thomas's Favorite hobby was watching football and supporting his teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners. He was an avid gardener and grew the most delicious tomatoes and squash.
Thomas was a devoted father and husband and loved his family dearly. He is survived by his wife, Ann Aven; daughters, Eileen Aven Rivera of Las Cruces, NM and Sandra Gallegos, of Mesilla, NM; sons-in-law, Richard Rivera and Eric Gallegos; beloved grandchildren, Noah, Benjamin and Abram Gallegos; beloved step grandchildren, Daniella, Israel, Martin, and Alicia; step great grandchildren, Elijah, Annalise, Zumi, and Everly.
Thomas was predeceased by his son, Alex Aven.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 20, 2023, at St. Jude Parish Catholic Church with Father Marcel Okonkwo, Celebrant.
