Services for Steve will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located at 705 Delaware Ave. in Alamogordo, New Mexico, 88310. Services will begin with Visitation at 9:30 am, Rosary at 10:30 am, and Mass at 11:00 am. We invite family and friends to attend as we remember a great father and friend and celebrate his life afterwards with a potluck reception in the Parish Hall of the church. Services will begin at 9:30 am. We ask that house plants or potted flowers be brought for the service instead of cut flowers, as Steven wasn't fond of cut flowers. The family asks that those who attend, please bring a dish if possible and in the very least, a fond memory of him.
Steve, also known as Smitty or pork chop, was born to Valerie Castro and Ralph Smith on September 18, 1965, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was bother to Raymond Smith, Tommy Smith, Carlos Smith, Michael Smith, Bobby Hernandez Jr., Virginia Molina, and was preceded in death by his sister, Alice McGuaghy.
Steve K. Smith was married once before to Ana Marie Mendoza to which he became a proud father to Andrew Joseph Smith and Steven Smith Jr., as well as a proud grandfather to Serinity Hope Smith and Bradley Ray Smith, whom he loved to take to the park and just joke and play with them anytime of the day.
Steve was best known for always being a person who was willing to help anyone when they needed it. He also loved his days as being a truck driver to big rigs, working on the vehicle, and being a die-hard Dallas Cowboys Fan. Once he stopped working and retired, he would always be caught at home tinkering with something electronic trying to upgrade whatever RC plane he had or making his close friends their own walking sticks with his special touch of course. He always loved to joke and have fun with his friends and family and had one of the biggest, sweet tooth for baked goods. In his final years, he did live in Las Cruces, New Mexico where he passed at Mountain View Memorial Hospital. Steve will be missed as he was loved and cared for by so many. May he rest in peace and watch over us as we remember him fondly in our hearts.
The Smith family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
