Steven Pepper Obituary

Steven Wayne Pepper, 66 years old, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, in High Rolls, NM. He was born on July 28, 1958, in Evansville, IN to John and Norma Pepper. He lived in High Rolls, NM with his wife Mira Pepper. They married on August 29, 2015, at Pecos Monastery.

Steve was retired and received great joy from driving the activity bus for Cloudcroft School District in his retired years. He worked in air conditioning and heating for the majority of his career. After receiving a Bachelor of Business degree, he transitioned into a Business Manager role at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. As a devoted Catholic, he had a strong passion for ministering to others. He was a leader in SEARCH for Christian Maturity, Cursillo, Kairos Prison Ministry, ACTS, many other small groups, and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. Steve’s hobbies included hiking, leather crafting, hunting, fishing, and golfing. He also loved working with his hands to serve other people.

Papaw, as he was fondly known by his grandchildren, devoted himself to spending quality time with loved ones. He will be remembered as a mentor, counselor, and teacher. His sarcastic wit and intense love for others are what we will cherish the most.

Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Mira Pepper; his children, Steven Pepper (Becky), Ashley Danielle Coronado (Roy), Forrest Pepper (Jackie); his stepchildren, Patti Gamboa (Yei), Audrey Menzel (Tyler Ford), and Martin Menzel (Ashley); 12 grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Diane Harrell (Kevin), Peggy Pepper, and Larry Pepper (Norma). He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Norma Pepper; and his grandson, Daniel Jude Pepper.

A Rosary and Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in La Luz, NM on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am with Mass celebrated at 10:30 am. There will be no viewing, and Steve will be carried to his final resting place at a future date.
