Sidney Mark Benson

Sidney Mark Benson, age 85, went to meet our Lord and reunite with the love of his life on October 28, 2023. Sid, the “New Mexico Poet,” was born to Berta and Roland Benson on November 22, 1937, in Willard, New Mexico. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Archie; wife, Mary Jane Davis-Benson; daughter, Lori; and siblings Jesse, Roland (Rusty), Sally, Shirley, Patricia, Archie, and Sherry. 

Sid was a devoted father and grandfather and is survived by his children, Sandi, Jesse, Kaweah, Shawna, Sidney Calvin, and Shannon; grandchildren, Scott, Nicole, Aaron, Meranda, Sidney Marc, Kian, Jonah, Madigan, and Briley; six great grandchildren, countless cousins, nieces and nephews, who will miss this amazing patriarch.

Sid loved and faithfully served his God, Country, family, church, and community wholeheartedly.

Services will be held on December 1, 2023, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 705 Delaware Ave., Alamogordo, NM. 

Visitation will be held at 9:30 am, followed by Rosary at 10:00 am and Mass at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow at 12:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.

The Benson family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
