Sherill "Sherry" Bannerman Bodwell

Sherill “Sherry” Bannerman Bodwell, 72, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 while surrounded by her family.  She was born on Jan 12, 1949 to James E. and Helen Crockett Bannerman in Alamogordo, NM.

Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Roger Bodwell; son Charles Bodwell, his wife Billee, their children, Charlee, Adam and Samantha; daughter Jennifer Bodwell Folken, her husband Brant and their children, Trevor and Garrett.  

Sherry was born in Alamogordo in 1949 and married her high school sweetheart, Roger, in 1969 at Grace United Methodist Church in Alamogordo.  For the next 20 years, Sherry followed her husband around the world as he progressed through his Army career.  During these 20 years, she served in various positions and participated in various programs from Director of various Child Development Centers, to various positions as a school teacher and nationally as a Head Start Coordinator. In 2000, it was Roger’s turn to follow Sherry and they relocated home to Alamogordo, NM where Sherry found the job she loved most; Chief Operating Officer of ZIA in Alamogordo.  It was this job where she felt her efforts had the greatest impact on the community she called home.

Despite her very significant personal and professional achievements, her most impressive accomplishment was family. From her marriage of 52 years to the most loving of husbands, Roger, as well as the personal and professional achievements of the children they successfully raised together, Charley and Jenni to the amazing bond she shared with her five grandchildren; Charlee, Adam, Trevor, Garrett and Samantha.

Her memorial will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 25th, 2021 at Alamogordo Funeral Home on First Street in Alamogordo, NM.
