Sangiam (Nit) Smelser passed away on May 2, 2022 after a short illness. Nit was born in Bon Dang, Korat, Thailand on October 15, 1947 to Shourt and Jun Noksungnern.
On April 2, 1973 she married Charles Smelser in Bangkok, Thailand and moved to the United States living in several different states and countries while her husband was in the Air Force. Nit worked for several janitorial contracts at Holloman AFB retiring in 2009. She was a friend to everyone she met in life. Nit loved to go fishing and play Bingo. She was an avid vegetable gardener and loved planting beautiful flowers in her front yard for everyone to enjoy as they drove by. She was also an extraordinary cook and loved to cook her special foods for all her family and friends to enjoy.
Nit is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Dan Smelser (Melinda) of Alamogordo, NM, Noy Amison (Brandon) of Katy, TX, Joyce Denton (Richie) of Alamogordo, NM, Charles Smelser (Desirae) of Littleton, CO; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and brother, Oey Noksungnern of Korat, Thailand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters.
No services are planned at this time. Cremation has taken place and she will be interned with her husband later in a Veteran’s Cemetery.
