Samuel "Sam" James Petrie

Samuel James Petrie, known lovingly as Sam, passed away on November 10, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on November 29,1967, in Denver, Colorado, Sam made his home in Alamogordo, New Mexico where he shared his life with those he loved most. 

Sam was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Petrie Sr.; stepmother, Kathy Petrie; mother, Geraldine Palmer; stepfather, Sam Moore; niece Codi Petrie. 

Sam is survived by his devoted life partner, Kerry Coleman; stepchildren, Dakota and Park; grandchildren, Rylynn, Jaxon, Abrienne, Camille, and Emilio, who brought him endless joy. He also leaves behind his brothers, Pat, Curt, Joe, Jim, and Donny; sisters, Jodi, Katie, and Patricia; nieces, Megan, Madi, Becka, Brooke, Eva, Bella, Madelyn, Lacey, and Juliana; nephews, Conner, Jimmy, Anthony, lan, and Jacob; great niece, Blair...all of whom he loved dearly. 

Sam was known for his quick wit, big heart, and gift for storytelling. He could make anyone laugh with his jokes and tall tales, and he never met a stranger. He had a lifelong love for stock cars, animals, and his beloved Denver Broncos. Above all else, Sam loved his family and adored his partner Kerry, she was the light of his life.

A service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Alamogordo, New Mexico where friends and family will gather to share memories and laughter in his honor. 

Sam's laughter, love, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Alamogordo Alameda Park Zoo.

The Petrie family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
