Robert "Bob" Joseph Nosbisch, 91, passed away November 29, 2021 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born December 4, 1929 in Buffalo, New York, to Joseph and Florence Nosbisch.
During his 24-year career in the Air Force, Bob was stationed in Japan twice, Washington state, New Jersey, Kansas, and New Mexico. He also served in Thailand and West Germany. As a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, Bob joined the Alamogordo chapter of the VFW when he retired.
Bob loved the mountains, his dogs, the Buffalo Bills, working crossword puzzles, and continuous learning, especially about history. The last book he was reading before his death was Spain in Our Hearts: Americans in the Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939.
Another great passion was Bob's love for his family; his wife, children, and grandchildren. He rarely missed a family member's birthday party, high school graduation, college graduation, or wedding. He also was quick with a quip. Two of his favorites were "Learn something new every day" and when he started to lose his hair, "I'm the fastest comb in the West."
Bob is survived by his sons, Ben, William "Bill", and Robert "Bob" Jr.; his daughter, Mary Fechner; seven grandchildren and a few great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Toshiko "Toshi"; father, Joseph, and mother, Florence.
Bob and Toshi were married March 19, 1952. Toshi passed away May 23, 2020. After 68 years of married life, they are together once again, this time for eternity.
A military burial will take place at Fort Stanton Cemetery on a date to be determined.
The Nosbisch family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
