Robert (Bob/Rob) W. Waltenberg, 53, passed away unexpectedly on 8 March 2022 in Alamogordo, NM. He was born to parents Claude Waltenberg and Virgina (Warren) Waltenberg, on 14 Nov 1968 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin (WI).
Bob had a lot of pride for his country and answered his nation’s call by joining the Navy in the summer of 1986 in between his junior and senior year of high school. Once returning from Boot Camp he graduated from Amherst High School in 1987 and proceeded to continue his active military career. While in the Navy, he served as a heavy equipment operator in the Seabees and saw combat during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. It was during this time in 1994 that his son, Storm, was born. Robert was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1996 and the Seabee’s motto of “Can Do” stayed with him throughout his life. He went on to study Business Management at Gogebic Community College and graduated with an Associate of Applied Business degree in 2001.
Rob met Ruth Joy Schuck in 2004. They were married on 29 Oct 2005 in Winter, WI. Together they had 2 children: Sierra Waltenberg and Jude Waltenberg. Rob worked a variety of jobs throughout his life. One of his favorite jobs was driving a belly dump in the oil fields of North Dakota. He was able to continue a “military life” even after he was discharged but this time around it was as a military spouse and not the active member.
Throughout his life, Robert enjoyed the outdoors and going to new places. Hunting, fishing, ATVing, snowmobiling, playing softball or beach volleyball were just some of the things he enjoyed. He and his family had the opportunity to live in England and visit parts of Europe. He was always up for an adventure to visit someplace new be it the Tower of London or just “another set of castle ruins that looked like all the rest”. One of his favorite places to be, was in nature with close family and friends. He was quick to invite people over for a cookout or BBQ. You also knew that if Rob was cooking that you wouldn’t go hungry because he grilled enough to feed an army or family of 11.
Robert is survived by his parents, Claude and Virgina (Ginger) Waltenberg; his wife, Ruth Waltenberg (nee Schuck); his children, Storm Waltenberg, Trinity Waltenberg-Poncek, Sierra Waltenberg, and Jude Waltenberg; brothers, Tom Waltenberg, Chris Waltenberg, Jim Waltenberg, and Chad Waltenberg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony held for Robert on 5 June 2022 at 12:00 at the American Legion Hall in Park Falls, WI.
