Robert O Serna

Robert O. Serna left this planet suddenly on November 23, 2021 at the age of 90. Robert joined the military during the Korean War and left as a SGT with F Company 187th Airborne. He then worked at Holloman AFB till he left again for the Far East, this time for Japan where he met his wife Ichiko of 65 years. They had two sons, Robert and Tony (Angela) and 3 grandchildren, Rebecca (Mark), Aaron and David (Beth). 

Robert finally moved back to Alamogordo in 1975 with his family where he worked with various Aeronautical companies at Holloman AFB until he retired. He helped with the organization for the Alamogordo Airborne Park and entrusted himself to make sure that the flags were put up and taken down everyday.

Robert was the second oldest of seven siblings and the last of four brothers who preceded him in death; he has two sisters still living. He also had many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was always good about helping other people and loved to try to fix things before giving it to the pros. 

The funeral service for Robert Serna will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alamogordo Airborne Park, 165-199 E 10th St., Alamogordo, NM.

The Serna family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
