Robert Stewart Klump of Lubbock, Texas passed away on July 9, 2022 at the age of 63. He was born on May 26, 1959 to Amos and Betty Walcott Klump in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1977. Robert Obtained his BS Degree in Entomology from New Mexico State University and then earned his Master's in 1985 in Entomology, Plant Pathology and Nematology, which collectively is known as Wheat Science.
Robert moved to Clove, NM and started his first company of Red Hills Consulting with his friend Rick Yochim. While he was working to get his company off the ground, Robert worked part time as a disc jockey at a Clovis radio station, where he deepened his love of music, especially the 60's, 70's and 80's. He later formed his own crop consulting company, Klump Agronomics LLC, and was passionate about his job, never intending to fully retire. Robert thoroughly enjoyed his relationships with all of his farmers and with the land.
On October 4, 1997, Robert married the love of his life, Gaye Coffman Roberts, and became "Pops" to Shiloh and Shane, and eventually "Poppy" to their children. They eventually moved to Lubbock, Texas, where Gaye currently resides. Robert was passionate about aviation and obtained his pilot's license in 2000. He owned two planes over the years, but he especially loved his Bellanca he nicknamed "Bella". He was devoted to his family, and he spent his winters with his family and made frequent trips to their Cederidge, Colorado second home, which he referred to as "Cornerstone".
Robert was transformed by his relationship with Jesus Christ and lived a life that reflected God's love for us. He participated in the Walk to Emmaus and was active in the Emmaus Ministry as well as an active member of the Turning Point Community Church of Lubbock, Texas. He truly knew how to make those around him feel special and he will be greatly missed by his extensive family and many friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Betty, and his stepmother, Loretta Klump. Survivors include his brother, Dr. James Klump; sisters, Debbie and Paul Coben (Allen, Jennifer, Kristine, Andrew) of North Pole, Alaska and Denise and Parker Hobson (Lindsey, Erin) of Tularosa, NM; great nieces and nephews, Allysa, Riley, Jeriah, Lauren, Haley, Jacob, Aiden, Aspen, Riley.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Alamogordo Funeral Home.
The Klump family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
