Robert Wiley King (88)
01/19/1932 - 11/05/2020
Bob, as family and friends knew him, passed away on November 5, 2020 at the Good Life Facility in Ruidoso, NM due to complications from Parkinson Disease.
Bob was born at the family home in El Paso, Texas to Gladys (Matchett) King and William Durbin King. After graduation from high school, he immediately joined the Navy during the Korean Conflict and served honorably on the USS Iowa BB 795. Upon his return home, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Tom Binney. This union blessed them with two children, Debora Louise and Robert, Jr.
Bob put his naval experience to work by becoming employed at El Paso Natural Gas Company in El Paso, Texas. He retired from there after 33 years of hard work and dedication as a Project Analyst. A year after the loss of Betty to cancer, Bob fell in love with a family friend who was also employed at EPNG (Janice Danley McAlpine) and were married in Bull Head City, AZ. This union lasted for 33 years and the King Team remodeled two houses and built two retirement homes; the last of which is the current family home in Alamogordo. This was truly a match made in Heaven.
Bob loved to build things and created many pieces of furniture. He was also an artist, draftsman, gardener, and loved to travel. His greatest regret was not being able to use his Passport to expand his horizons with his love.
Bob is survived by his wife, Janice Danley King; his two children; stepchildren, Edward J. McAlpine, Jr. and Deborah K. Register; his brother, James M. King (Barbara); twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Robert Wiley King was interred at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors following cremation by PCS. Please make a tribute gift in Bob's honor to the Parkinson's Foundation - www.parkinson.org.
The King family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
