Richard H. Colvin, 76, passed away on May 18, 2021. He was born on April 28, 1945.
Richard joined the US Air Force on Oct 4, 1965. He and his wife Bette Compton were joined in marriage on April 24, 1966 at the Chapel at Lowery Air Force Base in Colorado. They spent 2 years at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany before settling in the city of Alamogordo, New Mexico near Holloman Air Force Base. At the end of his 4 year enlistment, he continued to serve in the Air Force as a military augmentee for 24 more years, then retired from the Service. After leaving active duty for the Air Force, he worked for Vic Anderson’s Radiator Shop for about 8 years and then as a Radar Technician at the base. He worked for several different contractors on the base.
Richard was involved with Space City Evening Sertoma and held the governor position for the state for several years. He did the video production for the Christ Community Church services where he attended. He sang bass in the Community Choir at NMSU-A. Later he assisted his wife with the volunteer choir at the Senior Citizen Center.
Richard is survived by his wife Bette , son, Wesley and son, Mike and wife Michelle Colvin.
They have 4 grandsons, Nathaniel Colvin, Cody Flowers, Andrew Flowers, and Colten Flowers, and 13 great grand kids.
The funeral service for Richard Colvin will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Brock officiating.
Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
