Reginald “Reggie” William Wise II, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones, on November 15, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 7, 1950, in La Porte, IN.
At the age of 74, he leaves behind his soulmate and wife of 46 years, Kay Wise, Alamogordo; his daughters, Kathy Wise and Rebecca Lindsay, Alamogordo, Jennifer Kimery, Atlus, OK; his grandchildren, Katelyn Wise, Lexus Bates, Vincent Kimery, Charlie Bates, and Colton Gray; his nephew, Mathew Wise, La Porte, IN.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Wise; father, Reginald Wise; brother, Frederick Wise.
Born and raised in La Porte, Indiana, Reggie was drafted by the Army at the age of 18. Even at such a young age, being a “Wise” man, he enlisted in the Air Force instead. After serving in Vietnam, the United States Air Force was determined to help Reggie explore all kinds of exciting places across the globe where he relished in sampling the local cuisines and absorbing the heritage.
Then, young and in love, he and Kay were stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany for several years. They traveled and explored Europe, as they immersed themselves in the cultures and customs.
In 1982, they arrived at Holloman AFB in New Mexico. Having both been born and raised in Northern Indiana, they fell in love with the stunning sunsets and warm climate and put down roots. They decided grilling steaks for Christmas was a lot more fun than shoveling snow.
After 20 years in the Air Force, Reggie worked another 25 years at Holloman as a civilian before enjoying retirement. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and was always there for the people he loved. He spent most of time enjoying life with his family. He was passionate about nature, his dogs, wild birds, camping with friends and family, watching the Dallas Cowboys get beat, and striking up conversations with strangers at the grocery store. He kept everyone entertained, spreading joy and laughter with his amusing personality and cheery disposition. He touched countless hearts and lives and will be greatly missed by many.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 1318 14th Street in Alamogordo on Friday, November 22, 2024. Viewing will be held at 1:30 pm with the funeral service at 2:00 pm.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The Wise family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral Service.
