On January 31, 2026, Randall Joseph “Randy” Finley passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He crossed life’s finish line victoriously, and heaven welcomed a faithful soldier home.
Randy was born in Anniston, Alabama, on September 23, 1960, to Vivian Alene Benefield and Willis Joseph Finley. He graduated from Stone Mountain High School in Georgia in 1977. With his mother’s written consent, since he was only 17, he immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for 20 years.
His military journey began at Holloman AFB where he met the young woman who stole his heart and would be his faithful wife for life, Margarita. His next assignment took him to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Over the course of his career, he served in several states and overseas in Misawa, Japan. After retiring from active duty, he returned with his family to Alamogordo where he continued his service as a civilian with government contractors including KORD, ASI Inc., AGT Inc., M1 Support Services, THADD, and Lockheed Martin Aerial Target Flight Services. His dedication to his country was deeply rooted through to the very end.
A humble and gentle soul, Randy lived a life guided by faith and grounded in service to others. He believed deeply in putting God first and never hesitated to share his faith or God’s Word when the opportunity arose. He was a long-standing member of Eternity Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon. He was a faithful servant and in his final days, he told his loved ones that he was climbing a high mountain, beginning his journey home to heaven.
Randy loved his wife and family with his whole heart. His home was his sanctuary, and its doors were always open. It was important to him to make each guest who entered his home feel welcomed. Many people and children spent countless hours experiencing the warmth of his home. He was a father figure to many. Randy found joy in simple pleasures, being outdoors, fishing, grilling, and baking fresh bread for family and friends. He loved hosting family meals and was generous in every way. Caring for others was a blessing he never took for granted.
Though he faced many health challenges, he continually turned to God for strength. If love alone could have healed him, he would still be with us. He will be deeply missed, but the love he gave and the memories he created will remain forever.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Willis; his stepfather, Larry; his mother, Vivian; and his mother-in-law, Esperanza. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Margarita Finley; his sons, Randall, Michael (Stephanie), and Diego; his daughter, Jessica (Lorenzo); his grandchildren.
