Phyllis Eileen Watts

Phyllis Eileen Watts went home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2021 at the age of 94. For all who knew and loved her, she was Eileen or Aunt Eileen. Eileen was born to Ruth and Morton Watts on January 5, 1927. 

Eileen spent her school years and young adulthood in Marshall, Arkansas surrounded by her loving family after having lost her own mother in her late teens. She worked at the local bank till she moved to Santa Fe, NM in 1962 where she continued to work at a bank until her retirement. Eileen worked 2 jobs for many years and continued her second job after she retired from the bank. Her second job was at St. Vincent Hospital as a telephone operator. She loved her job, but mostly the people that worked there. She always helped out others at work, even though she never made it to work on time because there was always "one more thing" to do at home. Eileen never married but her neighbors, the Gallegos family, were her family. During holidays, Eileen often worked for her co-workers so they could be home with their families. The Gallegos family would have their meals early to include her before she went to work.

Eileen had a very giving heart and spirit, always willing to give support to others many times monetarily. When her nieces and nephews and other family members came for a visit, she always enjoyed taking them out to dinner at great places in Santa Fe.

Her little home and yard were her pride and joy, as well as all the dogs she loved so much. In her last years, her neighbors Ron and Esther Torrez kept up her yard work so she could enjoy it. The Gallegos family men were always available to help her, including the Gallegos son-in-law Cullen who did many jobs around her home. She was always very grateful for the help. 

Her last several years were spent at Betty Dare Nursing Facility in Alamogordo, NM which she claimed as her "home".

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Mason Watts of Denver CO; sister, Doskie Buck of Las Cruces NM; and nephew, Bruce Buck of Las Cruces NM.

Survivors include her very special neighbors, Mary and Manny Gallegos, John and Alexx Gallegos, Stephanie and Cullen Hamman, Manny Gallegos Jr., and thier families.

Surviving family includes her nieces and nephews, Cindy Ricicki, Penny Watts, Tammy Watts, and Ben Watts all of Denver CO, Randy Buck of Roswell NM, Robert Buck (Hope) of Alamogordo NM, Stephen Buck (Paula) of Las Cruces NM, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Arrangements and cremation have taken place at Alamogordo Funeral Home in Alamogordo, NM. Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Santa Fe, NM and burial will take place in Marshall, Arkansas.

The Watts family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
