Pete Tope

Pete Tope, 68, of Carrizozo, New Mexico, passed away on July 24, 2025, in El Paso, Texas.

Born January 1, 1957, in Canton, Ohio, to Ellsworth Thomas Tope and Celia Julia Madrid.

Pete was a retired railroader who enjoyed breaking and fixing things, was extremely competitive and well known for being ferociously protective of those that mattered.  A lifelong Harley Davidson enthusiast, who departed before his time, yet his ride continues.  

Pete made a huge impact and lasting impression in so many people’s lives, he will be forever remembered, loved and deeply missed.

Pete was preceded in death by his father, Ellsworth Thomas Tope.  He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Pauline Tope; children, Becky, David (Marisa/Maricela) and Sam (Danielle); grandchildren, Marcus, Malachai, Madison, Magnus, McKenna, Jocelyn; Mother, Celia Julia Tope; siblings, Paul Sr. (Helga), Teri, Mike, Tom; Father-in-Law, Nat Palomarez; siblings-in-law, Gabriel (Kathy), Betty; niblings, Paul Jr. (Erica), Samantha, Sabrina, Patrick (Kristi), Alicia, Victoria, Kerstyn; great niblings, Olivia, Jade, Kingston, Azelia, Isaac, Isaiah, Xavier, Brody, Brooklyn, Brogan, Brentlea, Rylee, Xelysa, Neriah, Messiah.  Last but certainly not least…his trusty sidekick Sadie.
