Our family's center, Pauline Gamboa Carrillo, was called to heaven on January 27, 2025. She was born in Mesilla, NM on July 29, 1938, to Santiago and Paula Gamboa. She is survived by her children, Martha Fernandez of Colorado, Danny Carrillo and wife Nena of Alamogordo, Stella Hendrickson and husband Marcelino of Alamogordo, Nancy Teeter of Arizona; 18 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; numerous special nieces and nephews.
God blessed our family with a loving and great mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Pauline graduated from the NM School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NMSBVI). She had an amazing memory, was our navigator, address and phone book, and made our day by calling us and singing happy birthday to all of us. She provided a welcoming and loving home to all her visiting nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends. Some of the best memories when walking into her home were the scents of homemade tortillas with butter, burritos, sopa, beans, and caldo.
Pauline is preceded in death by her husband, Abram Carrillo; her parents, Santiago and Paula Gamboa; sons, Jerry Gonzales and Felix Carrillo; four sisters, Magdalena Lucero, Isabel Ramirez, Maggie Gallegos, and Mary Romero; two brothers, Manny Gamboa and Clemente Gamboa.
Pallbearers include Mario Lechuga, Richard Gutierrez, Jr., Matthew Hendrickson, Jesse Acevedo, Ramon Dominguez, and Dadrian Lechuga.
Honorary pallbearers are Angelica Paz, Nannie (Josie) Mendez, Tina Elliott, Felipe Ray Abalos, Swan Dominguez, Gerald Gonzales Jr., Cody Frost, and Kevin Carrillo.
The family would like to thank our cousin, Lorena Manzanares, for assisting throughout; caregivers, Pearla Munoz and Monesty Valdez Brooks of Ambercare Hospice; and Donna Miller of Alamogordo Hospice.
