Paul David (Dave) Smith

Paul David (Dave) Smith, age 66, courageously fought multiple health issues in the final years of his life and passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 13, 2022 in Ruidoso, New Mexico.

Dave was born on April 23, 1955 to Cecil and Francis "Opal" (Bishop) Smith in Tularosa, New Mexico. Dave enjoyed family gatherings, reading his Bible, meeting new people, riding his Harley with his buddies, and working with his hands at most anything as evidenced by his life's labor. He was employed at various jobs including ranch work, millwright, uranium mining, and grounds keeper at Gerald Champion Hospital. Most recently, he was anxiously anticipating a retirement life touring the country in his RV with the love of his life, Leigh Ann.

Dave is preceded in death by his mother, Opal Smith and his brother, Harold Smith.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Leigh Ann; his father, Cecil Smith; daughters, Kristi (Mike) Salek and Winter (Billy) Otero; siblings, Carolyn (Dale) Jones, Bill (Pam) Smith and Susan Smith; grandchildren, Domanik Otero, Skylynn Smith, Keana Smith, and Riley Salek; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, February 4, 2022 at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service for Paul Smith will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 4, 2022 at the Alamogordo Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Moon officiating.

The Smith family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
