Pamela Maye Obituary

Pamela Jean (Weinrich) Maye, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was born December 26, 1953, in Alamogordo, NM and passed away at her home on May 11, 2024.

Pam spent her childhood in Alamogordo and in her high school years met a young man from El Paso, TX while she was on a summer vacation in Ruidoso, NM. Life events prevailed at the time and the two went their separate ways. Call it destiny, fate, or just true love, the two rejoined and were married December 13, 1974, at the Holloman Air Force Base Chapel. This is where Pam’s journey through life truly began.

Upon their union she instantly became the wife of a military man, and the mother of two young boys. In December of 1975 she gave birth to a baby girl and provided unconditional love to her family. Pam raised three children while supporting the love of her life during his 26-year career in the Air Force. The family traveled extensively throughout Europe with two tours in Germany and one in England.

As her children began High School, Pam realized she had more time on her hands and went to work at Military Exchange facilities and would later go on to own a residential and commercial cleaning company.

After supporting her husband’s 26-year military career and laying the foundation for her children’s lives, she and her husband relocated to Cushing Oklahoma in 2000. During this time Pam found a new passion and volunteered at various animal shelters and animal rescue endeavors.

After a devasting wildfire consumed their home in 2012 Pam and her husband fully retired and began touring this great country in a motorhome. This nine-year adventure culminated in traveling the United States from Coast to Coast, making new friends, and touching many lives along the way.

In 2021 they turned in their adventures on the road and built their forever home at the foot of the Sacramento mountains, that they loved so much, in Alamogordo, NM.

Being the wife of a military man and watching her children leave “the nest” at different periods of life weighed heavily on her heart. Having her family close was her greatest desire. In December of 2023 the family collaborated (behind her back) and came together as a surprise for her 70th birthday fulfilling one of her most profound wishes. In her words, “This was the best birthday I ever had!”.

Pam, a petite, reserved, beautiful woman, with a gentle disposition loved her family first and foremost. Her second love was the welfare of animals. Pam enjoyed many things in life such as music, bird watching, rock hounding, fishing, target shooting, and dancing with her love whenever the opportunity presented itself. Pam touched so many people throughout her life and continues to impact many lives today.

Pam passed away unexpectedly seven months prior to her 50th wedding anniversary devastating family and friends.
