Oscar Ronquillo Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Oscar Ronquillo, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on October 22, 2023, in Roswell, New Mexico. Oscar left this world at the age of 64, surrounded by his family and loved ones at his side. He fought a valiant battle against a prolonged illness but ultimately found peace and rest.

Oscar was born on July 28, 1959, and was preceded in death by his mother, Hermila Ronquillo and father, Aurelio Ronquillo.  He is survived by his daughters, Natalie Spells (Jonathan), Marissa Gonzalez (Rico); grandchildren, Kennedy Hutto, Nolan Garcia, Henry and Sawyer Spells, and Oscar and Lucas Gonzalez all from Fort Worth, TX; siblings, Maria Parra, Raquel Harris, Aurelio Ronquillo Jr. (Christina), Lilia Smith (Rodney), Elva Chavez (Norbert Sr.) all of Alamogordo, NM, Albert Ronquillo (Matt) from Las Vegas, NV; and companion, Cindy Lucero and granddaughter, Zoey of Rowell, NM. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

He grew up in a warm and loving household alongside his siblings in Alamogordo, NM that would help shape his character and values, forging lifelong bonds with his family and friends in every place that he lived which also included Roswell, NM and Fort Worth TX.  Oscar was a beacon of strength and support, a friend to all who crossed his path, and a caring son who always put his family first, especially his grandkids.

Oscar worked many years for Coca-Cola and Pepsi Bottling Company where his dedication was evident by his strong work ethic that was instilled during his upbringing.

Oscar was a devoted and a proud father. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He instilled in his children the values of kindness, empathy, and a strong work ethic, leaving a lasting legacy that will endure through the generations to come.

He was a big sports fan always following the Boston Celtics, Chicago Cubs, and Washington Commanders.  His sense of humor was always on display in his friendly banter with family and friends when it came to his sports teams.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 27th at 6:00 p.m. at Alamogordo Funeral Home (2301 First Street) followed by a rosary at 6:30 p.m.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
