Orlo L Parker

Orlo L. Parker passed away peacefully at the hospital ICU in Alamogordo, New Mexico on November 14, 2023, at the age of 86. Orlo was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 16, 1937, to Jessie Wanda, and Orlo V Parker. Orlo grew up in Wichita where he attended school, worked, and at the age of 19 joined the Air Force. He loved and honored his country by spending 23 years in the Air Force and retiring as an E7 Master Sergeant. While in the Air Force, Orlo and his wife, Eloise, traveled and enjoyed many parts of the world such as France, the Azores, Vietnam, Spain, Portugal, and Germany being stationed at several of these places. Orlo was Post Commander of the VFW Post 7686 in Alamogordo 2 terms and served as State Commander for the VFW making history as he and his wife Eloise became State Commanders; at the same time, Eloise as State commander for the VFW Auxiliary. After retiring from the Air Force in 1979, Orlo went to work for Holloman Air Force base spending 32 years as a civilian and retiring in 2010, spending 55 years between the Air Force and Civil Service.

Orlo, a loving husband, friend and mentor, is preceded in death by his spouse, Eloise B. Parker who passed on November 20, 2019, both of his parents, and several dear friends. He is survived by sister-in-law, Sally Torres; cousin, Barbara Jean; his cousins/caregivers, Virginia and Frank Franko; very good friend, Georgene; dear friends, Debbie and Louie Reyes and Sandra and Dennis Trujillo; as well as many, many dear and beloved friends.

Urn bearers include Frank Franko, Louie Reyes, and Dennis Trujillo. Honorary pallbearers are Marty Capasse, Terry Kelley, Forest Mcguinnes (Mac), Daniel Johnson, and Steve Perez, along with many other friends. 

The Memorial Service for Orlo Parker will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the VFW with a potluck lunch to follow.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
