Nick Chacon Obituary

Our Beloved Father, Uncle, Brother, Grandfather, and a friend to all. Nick Chacon at 68, received his wings to be with the Heavens above on May 5, 2022. Nick was born on August 27, 1953 in Albuquerque, NM to Eusebio Chacon and Frances “Pancha” Chacon.

Nick was a Golden Glove Boxer and soon to be challenged to pro boxing light weight division, but didn’t proceed. Nick moved to Alamogordo, NM in 1969. Soon after, he started working at Firestone and then moved on to work at Montgomery Wards. Nick was tired of working for “The Man” (Nick would call working, “The Man”). Nick decided to open his own glass shop after working with City Glass. Nick was taught well, he was a workaholic and hard working. Nick had a loving relationship with his girlfriend, Alejandra Chacon, whom he married, soon after expecting their first child.

Nick was in the Army National Guard, April 15, 1985. Everyone knew Nick Chacon. We could go anywhere, even out of town, and Nick knew someone. Nick was involved in various community service programs, played pool and was always there for anything that was family oriented. Nick loved politics and always put God first. Nick took care of the people around him with his generous heart. He helped out the kids and fostered from various situations in life. Nick was awarded by many, but the one that stuck out the most was the KOAT-TV ABC network with the Jefferson award for outstanding public service, April 10, 1987. There was never a dull moment since Nick had a sense of humor and loved joking around. Everyone would laugh and enjoy each other’s company when barbecuing or cooking in the kitchen or spending time with family. Everyone knows if you spent time with Nick, you were automatically family.

Nick is survived by his loving family, wife, Alejandra; kids, Nickie Chacon and Alejandro (Vanessa) Chacon; two loving grandkids, Caralina and Andres; sisters, Agnes (Michael) Espanosa, Bernadett (William) Hanneman, Rosa Perez, Gloria (Fred) Burtle, Jamie (Eulalia) Perez, Susana Garcia, Margie (Byron) Broussard, Ana Perez, and Vickie Brady; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and good friends that were considered family.

Nick was charismatic and loved life. A Celebration of Life will be held at Mountain View Church in Alamogordo, NM. Date and time will be announced on Facebook at a later date.

The Chacon family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
