Michael Sanchez Obituary

Michael Raymond Sanchez, 66, of Tularosa went home to our Heavenly Father on December 28, 2025.

Michael was raised in Tularosa and graduated from Tularosa High School in 1977. During high school years, he was employed at the local H & J Food Bank as a store clerk. Upon graduation, Michael attended the KBD Professional Hair Design Academy and graduated in 1978.

Michael had a love for Motocross which led to his enrollment in a Master Course in motorcycle repair at the North American Correspondent School. He owned motorcycles, worked on motorcycles and could not ride his motorcycle enough. His need for speed on a motorcycle brought him numerous trophies.

Above all else, Michael’s true passion in life was billiards, he was quite the pool shark. Instead of having living room furniture, Michael chose to have a pool table surrounded by all his Billiard Trophies in his living space. Michael’s house was a one stop shop; you could get a haircut and play a game of pool.

Eventually, Michael found his way to Houston, Texas and made a life for himself as a barber and a pool shark, running the pool tables against the students at the University of Houston.

In 1984, when our sister Annie was in a bad car accident and was transferred to the Texas Institute for Research and Rehabilitation located in Houston, it was a true blessing to have Michael residing there. He was a caring and compassionate caregiver and took Annie and mom to concerts, basketball games, and wherever else they needed to go.

Michael is survived by his mother, Adelina N. Chavez; brothers, Alex Chavez and wife Donna, Albert Chavez and wife Janet; sisters, Angela Garcia and husband Conrad, Annette Cordova and husband Manny, Andrea Carrillo and husband Bennie; godmother, Angelita Guilez; uncle, Andrew Nejeres;  numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Michael was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Danois and Maximiana Sanchez; sister, Annie Chavez; stepfather, Alex Chavez; uncles, Raymond Nejeres and Henry Nejeres.
