Maureen Dugan

Maureen Dugan, 87, passed away on May 18, 2024, in Las Cruces, NM due to complications from Alzheimer's. Maureen was born in Manchester England. She met her first husband in England and married on June 6,1954. She moved to Alamogordo with her husband who was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base in 1957.

She became a U.S. citizen in 1962 and received her GED in 1966.

Maureen worked for many years in real estate and she and her late husband (Charles J. Dugan) owned and operated Hyde Park Realty. She previously worked at JC Penney, General Electric, and as a columnist and social editor at the Alamogordo Daily News where she wrote a column every week "Uptown and Downtown". She served as President of the Alamogordo Music Theater, member of the state planning committee for tourism and recreation, the New Mexico State Film Commission, and was active with the Auxiliary of Zia School for Handicapped Children and the Zia Foundation. The March of Dimes awarded her their service award. Maureen was particularly proud of receiving the Americanism medal from the Daughter's of the American Revolution. She was the second New Mexican in the 52-year history of the state to receive this medal. The Alamogordo Chapter of the Business Women's Association named her Career Woman of the Year. In addition, she was member of Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the motion picture division.

Maureen has one child, her daughter, Karen E. (Black) Duprey and one granddaughter, Alexis V. (Duprey) Rains.

She will be interred with her late husband Charles J. Dugan in a private family ceremony according to her wishes.
