Matilda G Brown

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Matilda "Tillie" G Brown, 88, on July 9, 2024, in Alamogordo, NM.

Matilda was born on March 14, 1936, in Alamogordo where she also raised her family with her husband of 49 years, Robert Brown. 

Her survivors include her children, Susan Brown of Alamogordo, Teresa (Dave) Gore of Albuquerque, and Michael (Vivian) Brown of Cedar Rapids, IA; one sister, Josephine Lopez of Phoenix, AZ; 4 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Tillie was a talented artist who was loved and respected by her community. She was a creative crafter and loved to cook. She had many interests and passions but what brought her the greatest joy was her love and pride for her family and loved ones. She was devoted to her family and had a great abundance of love for her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.  

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert Brown; grandson, Daniel Leonard; parents, Maximo and Blanche Garcia; and siblings, Ernesto Maese, Steven Garcia, Armando Garcia, Amalia Bills, and Jovita Sanchez.

Viewing and Rosary will be held at Alamogordo Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, with Viewing at 5:00 pm, followed by the Rosary at 6:00 pm. 

Mass will be held at St. Jude Parish Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11:00 am. 

Tillie was a life-long supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to this organization or your favorite charity. 

The Brown family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
