Mary La Nelle Potter

Mary La Nelle Potter, 84, peacefully went to be with the Lord on December 30th, 2021 in Alamogordo New Mexico. She was born on March 3rd, 1937 in Georgetown, Texas to Ralph Earl and Bernice Sawyer. 
  
Mary lived in the Tularosa area most of her adult life. In her youth, Mary worked in the cafeteria at New Mexico School for the Visually Handicapped in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She married Thomas Calvin Potter on March 7th, 1960. They raised their two children, Mark Calvin and Melissa Kay from their home North of Tularosa. In her later years, Mary lived with her daughter Melissa in Tularosa where she played an instrumental part in the raising of her four grandchildren. Mary was an avid reader. Mary gave her heart to the Lord at the age of 13 and was a devout student of Scripture all through her life. 
 
Mary is survived by her sister, Nancy; her daughter, Melissa; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her Aunt Effie of Clovis, NM.
 
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband, Tom; her son, Mark; and her brother, Ralph Jr. “Bud” Sawyer. 
 
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022 at the Tularosa Community Church. 

Graveside service for Mary will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Tularosa, New Mexico immediately following.

The Potter family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
