Martina Padilla

Martina Padilla went to be with our Lord peacefully at her home on December 14, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Chris O. Padilla, Jr. 

Martina is preceded in death by her son, Tommy Padilla, and her parents, JJ and Porfiria Melendrez. She has 5 surviving children, Kathy VanNess, Sandra Minkner (Chris) of Indianapolis, IN, Barbara Blake, Chris (Doreen), and Keith (Ginger) of Mission, TX. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. 

Martina was a dedicated wife and a fun-loving grandmother. She was very creative and loved sharing her craft projects with her children and grandchildren. Martina dedicated her years working as a line supervisor at Levi Strauss and later in the Alamogordo Public School system as a nurse at Chaparral Middle School and a librarian at Sacramento Elementary. She liked to spend time writing, volunteering at St. Jude’s Church, sewing, knitting, dancing and playing dominoes with family and friends. 

Rosary will be held at 10:15 am, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at St. Jude Parish Catholic Church followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.

The Padilla family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
