Marilyn Whiteley Obituary

Marilyn Whiteley, 87, went to be the Lord on March 8, 2023, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Marilyn was born on January 14, 1936, in Mattoon, Illinois to Edward and Osie Horn. 

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years, Ronald Whiteley; her son, Ronnie Whiteley, her brothers, Lee Horn and John Horn; her sister, Virginia Harris.

Ron and Marilyn met at a USO dance at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Illinois after which they married 4 months later in 1956. Together they spent 4 years in Bordeaux, France and Paris, France, 2 ½ Years in Washington DC, 3 years in High Wycombe, England, 5 years in Elmendorf, Alaska, retiring at Holloman Air Force Base.

Marilyn loved fishing, golf and spoiling her Beagle, Maggie and her Golden Retriever, Sassy.

Survivors include her son, John Whiteley (Joan); grandkids, Kevin Whiteley (Fanny), Kris Haden (Dani); great grandkids, Mackensie Haden, Kayleigh Haden, Harper Haden, and Allison Whiteley. 

Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the Otero County Boys and Girls Club, Shriners Children's Hospital or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in her name.

The family would like to thank the staff at Solstice Senior Living for everything you did for Marilyn, especially Nettie for being with Marilyn and the loving care she gave to Marilyn and us! And a special thanks to Pam for your friendship and help to Marilyn.

Cremation has taken place and internment will be at a later date. Ron and Marilyn wanted to be laid to rest with their beloved son, Ronnie.

The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
