Maria Luisa Gonzalez

Maria Luisa Gonzalez, age 98, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 1, 1927, in El Paso, Texas, to Enrique and Adelaida Carreno Flores.

Maria Luisa shared 71 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Arnulfo H. Gonzalez, who preceded her in death. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, whose life was marked by kindness, honesty, and unconditional love. Known for her gentle spirit and heart of gold, Maria Luisa also found joy in cooking, and her delicious meals brought family together, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

A woman of deep faith, Maria Luisa was a devoted Catholic and a faithful member of the Guadalupanos. Her strength, compassion, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Maria Luisa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arnulfo H. Gonzalez; her infant son, Alberto Gonzalez; her parents, Enrique and Adelaida Flores; her brothers, Joe, Enrique, and Raul Flores; her sister, Christina Montoya; her granddaughter, Maria Maynez; her great grandson, Shawn Smith; and her great-granddaughter, Hadlee Nunn.

Maria Luisa is survived by her sons, Arnulfo Gonzalez Jr. and Jose Luis (Patty) Gonzalez both of Alamogordo; her daughters, Julieta Maynez of Alamogordo, Licha (Horacio) Estrada of El Paso, Texas, Virginia (Manuel) Morales of Alamogordo, Maria (Ernest) Gutierrez of Alamogordo, Veronica McGhee of Alamogordo, Suzy (Michael) Signorelli of Hurricane, West Virginia. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren, and 28 great-great-grandchildren.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing she is now spending eternity in heaven.

Funeral services for Maria Luisa Gonzalez will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 705 Delaware Ave., Alamogordo, NM 88310

Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am with mass celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.

Gathering of friends and family will be held immediately after the burial at St. Jude Roman Catholic Parish Hall, 1404 College Ave. Alamogordo, NM 88310.

The Gonzalez family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
