Lorine Wilson Kelly (known as Miss Lorraine to her friends and family), age 79, passed away unexpectedly on November 18, 2021. She was born on March 7, 1942 to Mildred Valentine Dillard and John Edward Kelly in Independence, Louisiana. She moved to New Mexico in the late 1950’s.
Lorine was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a friend to many. She had a servant’s heart, a quick smile and never met a stranger. She was happiest when she was helping or caring for someone. She loved to catch up on the phone with her friends and relatives. She was an avid bingo player and loved to take trips “up the mountain” to the Inn. She worked in nurse’s aide positions throughout her life and was always there to lend a hand to those who needed it. She also worked as a foster parent for several years. Lorine was a hard-working person who was willing to take on any project all on her own and was self-motivated to try to fix anything herself.
Lorine is survived by her brother, LeRoy Valentine as well as her sons, Herbert Delone, Jr. and his wife Carolyn and James McKinley Wilson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicholas Delone, Danielle Kappes, James Wilson Jr., and Kyree Wilson. She was also great grandmother to many great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Valentine Dillard and father John Edward Kelly as well as her brothers and sisters, Charles Edward Kelly, Edna M. Lebeaux, Melvin Dillard, and Emmitt Dillard.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
The Kelly family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
