Lorenza (Sister) C Gonzales

Lorenza (Sister) C. Gonzales, 90, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother went to be in the arms of Our Loving Savior on March 30, 2022.

Lorenza was born on October 25, 1931 in Alamogordo, NM to Jose and Juanita Chavez.  Lorenza met her loving husband, Santiago, in Alamogordo and they were married in 1951.  Lorenza made her home in Alamogordo/La Luz, NM and later moved to Avondale, AZ. 

Lorenza loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She babysat numerous children in their homes and at church. Throughout her life, she loved to volunteer at the Zia thrift shop.  She got her nickname “Sister” from being the oldest of 10 siblings, who she helped care for and raise.

Lorenza is survived by 4 daughters, Gloria, Terri, Carmen (Johnny), Martha (Rudy);3 sons, Santiago (Mona), Richard, Raymond (Joann); 4 sisters, Virginia (Pete), Juanie, Patsy, Lupe (Oscar); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; niece, Rachael Baca; and brother-in-law, Tony Gonzales.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son and 2 grandsons.

Cremation will take place and a memorial celebration service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alamogordo, NM. Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am with Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow the Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic cemetery. 

Pallbearers include Lorenza’s children.

Honorary Pallbearers are all of her Grandchildren. 

The Gonzales family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral service.
