Loren Omness Obituary

Loren Otto Omness passed away on February 20, 2024, at the age of 82 at his home after a valiant fight against cancer. He passed in the arms of his loving partner of 16 years, Helen Richards.

Loren was born on September 4, 1941, in Muskegon, Michigan to Regina Deaulia and Oscar Otto Omness and was an only child. He lived and graduated High school in Muskegon and then attended Ferris State College where he graduated as an industrial arts teacher. Loren’s passion was hunting and fishing and he loved the outdoors.

Loren married Bonnie Boltze on July 18, 1964, at White Lake Baptist church.  Following their marriage, they lived in Muskegon then moved to Albuquerque, NM where they raised their family and Loren taught Machine Trades at TVI. He retired after 25 years of teaching. Bonnie passed on Feb 28, 2006.

Loren was a loving, devoted husband and father and an inspiration to us all. His passion for the outdoors was instilled in his children and grandchildren. Some of the best memories revolved around camping, hunting and fishing. Loren was committed to making it possible for Bonnie to follow these passions and fabricated many ingenious tools to assist her in hunting, fishing and camping. The example he set in life is beyond compare. He was respected by all that knew him.

Loren is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 42 years. He is survived by his loving partner, Helen Richards and his 3 children and their spouses, Troy  Omness (Coda), Shelley Morrow (Patrick) and Sheri Dropinski. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Clay Morrow, Kristen Morrow, Dustin Dropinski, Mathew Hernandez, Deanna Katzenberger, and Stacy Miller.

In 2008 Loren met Helen Richards and began a new loving chapter of his life. They moved to Weed, NM and spent much of their time in the RV traveling all over the country. Helen took Loren out of his comfort zone and began many new adventures overseas and at home. Helen and Loren and a wonderful loving relationship filled with many wonderful memories.

Loren will be forever missed and his passing leaves a huge void in all our lives, but he also leaves priceless memories of hunting, fishing, and family events.

There will be a small family gathering to spread his ashes at a later date.
