Lloyd Louis Joyner Obituary
Lloyd Louis Joyner, age 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in his Alamogordo home. Lloyd was born in Lawton, OK to Charlie and Ruth (Bowen) Joyner. He had four siblings, one brother and three sisters. After completing his education, he entered the work force and worked with his father hauling sand and gravel to local businesses around the Lawton area. In 1946, Lloyd enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably for one year.
Following his separation from the Army, Lloyd left OK and moved to Fieldton, TX. He began farming for his brother and later, a local farmer named John Muller. Mr. Muller had a daughter by the name of Velma Faye Muller and this is where Lloyd found his bride. They were married on January 20, 1948, and celebrated 75 years of marriage together. Eventually the couple moved to Southern CA with their three children in tow, seeking a job opportunity. Lloyd was employed by Sears and Roebuck as an appliance technician. They remained in CA for thirty years before moving to their final destination in Alamogordo, NM.
Activities that Lloyd enjoyed throughout his life were camping, gardening, planting trees, and music, especially country music. Lloyd was a great wood worker and loved to build, building sheds, clocks, furniture, etc. Later in life, he developed a new hobby of cooking, turning into quite the chef, to the delight of everyone!
Lloyd was introduced to Jesus Christ as a young man saying "yes" to His invitation of inviting Jesus into his heart, becoming a new creation. This new identity made a good man an amazing man! His reputation was for being strong, wise, humble, kind, and compassionate with a gift of discernment. Lloyd sought the Lord through prayer and bible reading ALL the days of his live. He had a special way of living it out without speaking a word, and it was awe inspiring to those around him.
Lloyd was a simple man who lived a simple life that had a profound impact on many.
Lloyd is survived by his three children: son, Bill Joyner; daughters, Karen Sanford and Karla Creighton, along with their spouses. Lloyd had six grandchildren, Maria Joyner, Jennifer Artiaga, Misty Creighton, Lisa Juarez, Ryan Creighton, Kelly Washburn; along with 14 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; all of his siblings; two grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to join the services for Lloyd on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Bethel Baptist Church. Viewing will be held at 1:00 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 1:30 pm.
Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The Joyner family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
