Leslie Adamson-Moffett Obituary

Leslie Jeanne Adamson-Moffett, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and friend to many passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, in Tularosa, NM.

Leslie was born on January 16, 1969, to Jerry and Patricia Adamson in Holbrook, Arizona. Even though she had a very beautiful name, from the moment she was born everyone called her Lolly. To those who know her, they will not be surprised that she has been a spitfire from the moment she was born. Growing up, she embraced her tomboy side, finding joy in sports, collecting horned toads and creating mudpies. Although she eventually outgrew her tomboy phase, Lolly continued to pursue her passion for volleyball and basketball during her high school years at Tularosa High School. Her dedication to academics was also evident as she became a member of the National Honor Society, graduating high in her class in 1987.

Lolly spent many years working as a waitress, developing strong connections with her customers and maintaining lasting friendships. Her generous spirit extended beyond her job, as she would go above and beyond to help others, always willing to lend a hand or offer support. Whether accompanying friends to appointments or engaging in acts of kindness for those facing health challenges, her compassion knew no bounds. Despite enduring heartbreaking losses, Lolly's unwavering faith in God remained a steadfast anchor in her life.

As a mother and grandmother, Lolly found immeasurable joy in her roles. Her children held a special place in her heart, and she tirelessly worked to provide for them, showering them with unconditional love and care. The title of "Nanny" brought her immense pride as she cherished hearing her grandchildren address her by the same name, she once called her own grandma. Lolly inherited from her mother a deep appreciation for reading, instilling in her the value of books. Poetry, law and politics fascinated her, but the books she treasured most were those she shared with her children and grandchildren. Her home was always adorned with stacks of books, ready to be gifted to loved ones. Lolly's passion for roses also shone brightly, and she took great pleasure in tending to her rose bushes and sharing their beauty with others. In her four-legged companions, she found loyal companionship, with her beloved Chihuahua, Jessie, holding a special place in her heart for many years.

Lolly will truly be missed by her family, friends and the entire community of Tularosa. She was a very special person, full of love and compassion. Donations can be made to Annie’s Cupboard at St. Francis De Paula Food Pantry or Tularosa Community Church Food Pantry in her name.

Leslie is preceded in death by her two sons, Daniel “Bud” Garcia and Nicholas Clyde Garcia; her parents, Richard and Patricia Smith; and sister, Tami Adamson-Kelly.

She is survived by her daughter, Sierra Collins; her grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Tommy Jr., Janean, Ysidro, Aerabella, and McKenna; her father, Jerry Adamson; her sisters, Cyndie Dalton (Mike) and Jan Gallegos; her nephews and nieces, Brandi (Clinton), Dustin (Andrea), Sean (Brittany), Kristopher, Lacey, Gabe; as well as countless friends.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa with Graveside Service following at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A reception and fellowship will follow at the Parish Hall.
