Larry Wayne Lee

Larry Wayne Lee, 71, of Alamogordo, New Mexico passed away on April 3, 2023.

Larry was born on August 8, 1951, to Clifford Cleo Lee and Thelma Talley Lee in Moulton, Alabama. After Larry graduated from Addison High School in 1969, he went on to pursue a career in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and enlisted in 1970. While stationed at Clark Air Base Philippines, Larry met Florentina Lavarias in Mabalacat, Philippines on her birthday in 1975 and they were married later that year in October.
 
In 1994, Larry retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force after serving 24 years with tours in Vietnam, Desert Storm, and Desert Shield.

After his tenure with the Air Force, Larry continued his service to his country by working as a civil servant specializing in aircraft maintenance at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma and Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico where he finally attained his second retirement in 2013. 

Larry strongly believed in his family, career, faith, hobbies, community, and was passionately active in each of them. Larry was a devoted Pentecostal Christian and selflessly volunteered his time to his church. Flying was one of Larry’s many passions. Larry loved taking his Piper Cherokee up into the clouds whenever he had some free time. On top of being an airplane mechanic, Larry was also a certified flight instructor. Larry joined the Civil Air Patrol as a pilot in 2001 and worked his way up to the rank of Major. In addition, Larry also volunteered his time with the Alamogordo Search and Rescue team.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Florentina as well as his children, Allan, Bryan, Mariane, and Sarah; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Klara and Elvis; brother, Frank; sister Shirley.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Thelma, and brothers, William and Jimmy.

Services for Larry Lee will be held at Peace Tabernacle Church, 900 Jefferson Ave, Alamogordo, NM 88310 on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.

There will be a Viewing from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with Church Service at 11:00 am. 

Burial Service will follow at 12:00 pm at Monte Vista Cemetery, 1590 E First St. 

A reception will be held at the church social hall and at 1:00 pm.
