Kathleen Mae Burger passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home of over 65 years, into the arms of the Lord. Kathleen was born to Ralph and Kathleen Westfall in Buffalo, NY where her husband of nearly 50 years, George, her son Mike, and niece Bonnie were all born as well. She is survived by her son, Mike of Alamogordo, and her niece, Bonnie Lanz and her family of Juneau, Alaska.
Kathleen, George and Mike moved to Alamogordo in 1960 making Alamogordo their lifelong home. Mike moved back 7 years ago after living in Oregon for 40 years. Kathleen showed so much kindness to everyone she met, especially her family. Kathleen became a nurse in the late 40s, early 50s, becoming a lifelong nurse. She had an amazing gift for caring for others which she gave freely, never expecting anything in return. All of us were very fortunate enough to have been part of her life.
Kathleen and George Burger were members of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1960. All of the Burger family were avid rockhounds, bowlers, and hunters (both bow and rifle). Kathleen worked as a teacher's assistant and teacher at Zia School for close to 20 years after her retirement from nursing. Kathleen will be missed by all of her neighbors and friends, past and present.
The Memorial Service for Kathleen Burger will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1505 College Ave.
The Burger family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
