Karyl Lavonne Pappas Davis Obituary

Karyl Lavonne Pappas Davis, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, at the age of 74, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born on February 9, 1952, Karyl LaVonne lived a life defined by kindness, service, and a deep love for the people around her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Glenn Davis; her son, Dion Pappas and his wife Sonia Pappas; her stepchildren, Shawn Davis and Julie Davis Bowen. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Alexis Schwarz, Isaiah Pappas, Eli Pappas; her beloved great grandchildren, Addison and Hudson Schwarz, who brought her tremendous pride and joy.

Karyl LaVonne is also survived by her brother, George T. Smith; her niece, Amy Barela; her brother’s grandchildren, Elise Barela Covarrubias and Tryston Lee Ann Barela.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeanne and Bud; her sister-in-law, Diana Smith; her stepson, Todd Davis; her stepdaughter, Marnie Davis.

Karyl LaVonne had a lifelong passion for doing hair and loved helping others feel their best. She often reminisced about her skating days, which brought her many joyful memories. She had a huge heart for serving others and faithfully volunteered in many areas at her church. Karyl La Vonne led the food ministry, helped with church security, and served wherever she was needed. Her servant’s heart and willingness to help others was an inspiration to many. She even shared her love of golf by teaching a few women how to play.

Karyl LaVonne also had a deep love for the outdoors. She enjoyed camping and four-wheeling with friends and family, creating countless memories filled with laughter, adventure, and time spent together.

Those who knew Karyl LaVonne, knew that whatever she did, she did with her whole heart. Helping others brought her true joy, and her generosity, warmth, and caring spirit touched the lives of many.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, compassion, and service will continue to live on through her family and through the many lives she blessed.

A celebration of Karyl LaVonne’s life will be held at 9:30 am, Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Saving Grace Baptist Church in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
