Karen Marie Duggan

Sadly, for family and friends, Karen Marie Duggan, 58 of Alamogordo, NM passed away in Las Cruces, NM on March 27, 2021. Karen was born in Plattsburgh, NY on June 24, 1962 to Virginia Marie and John Joseph Duggan. She was a member of the Alamogordo High School Class of 1980. From there, she went on to New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, graduating with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. 

Karen worked at New Mexico State University-Alamogordo as an Administrative Assistant in charge of the Front (Information) Desk. In addition, she designed recruiting materials for Student Services as well as special graphic projects for the NMSU-A president. She had a plethora of other responsibilities but became known to many as the "Face of Student Services at NMSU-A". 

Karen was a gifted artist with a collection of works in various mediums. Although pastels were her favorite, she also worked with charcoal and was a master with watercolor gouache. Her muse was the southwest and her work features the distinct beauty of the Tularosa Basin. Her art is a testimony to the truly sensitive, loving, beautiful soul that was uniquely Karen. 

Karen is survived by a large extended family that loved her dearly. Her parents, John Joseph and Virginia Marie, née Meagher; her two younger sisters, Julie Ebeling of New Jersey and Jessica Lee Alpeter (Steven) of Ohio; three younger brothers, John Joseph (Jennifer) of El Paso, Michael Patrick of Milwaukee and Jed Anthony (Catherine) of Las Cruces; three nephews, Matthew, Tristan and Brady; and three nieces, Emma, Isabel and Josselyn. 

The Duggan family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
