Juan "Johnny" Pedro Salazar

Juan Pedro Salazar of Tularosa, NM passed on October 25, 2025. Johnny, as he was called by family and friends was born in Carrizozo, NM on October 17, 1936.

Johnny is survived by his daughters, Jeannette Salazar of Tularosa, Anna Walker and husband Ronnie of Tularosa; sons, Steve and wife Brenda of Mesa, AZ, Jim and wife Barbara of Tularosa. Johnny was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Johnny was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Arsenia (Virgie) Salazar; parents, Pantaleon and Anita Salazar, mother and father-in-law, Edward and Consuelo Silva; grandson Brian Oberlander.

Johnny proudly served in the United States Navy. He served as a Village of Tularosa Trustee for multiple years and was a teammate on the first State Championship Football team for Tularosa High School.

A Memorial Mass to remember and celebrate Johnny’s life will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa, NM.  Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am with celebration of Mass at 10:30 am.

Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Virgie.

The Salazar family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
