LaNelva passed away in her granddaughter’s home in Las Cruces in the early morning hours of January 15th, 2021. She was born in Alamogordo on February 11, 1934. Even though her final days were in Las Cruces, Alamogordo was always home.
LaNelva’s true life adventure started when she married her true love William Pruiett in 1950. She was a mother of two and gladly threw herself into that role. LaNelva was a true family woman who loved and cared for all her family members. Her best adventure was working alongside her husband for 15 years on the “Mashed O” ranch outside of Alamogordo. LaNelva was an amazing cook, she took care of and fed a multitude cowboys over the years. Her cooking was a staple and favorite part of the day for the wranglers who came to work. Her favorite part of it all was the kids, their spouses, and grandchildren who at one point or another all got to be there with her. Her next adventure was moving back to Alamogordo for retirement. She and Grandpa Jake chose a property where they could be close to the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved when everyone was there to visit.
LaNelva leaves behind her son Gary of Brady TX. Her youngest grandsons Levi Pruiett and Brent Pruiett both of Rankin, TX. Her granddaughter Michelle Lovelace and her husband John and two great grandchildren, Cody and Caitlyn, of Las Cruces. Her grandson Carl Jake Pogue, his fiancé Amanda and three more great grandchildren, Christopher, Abigail and Codie, also of Las Cruces.
LaNelva was proceeded in death by her parents Paul and Bessie Bennett, and her brother David. Her husband William C. Pruiett, her daughter Brenda Pogue, son-in-law Mike, and her daughter-in-law Gari Pruiett.
Private burial will take place at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The Pruiett family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
