Jovita "Tobi" Noriega, 87 of Alamogordo, New Mexico passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on June 23, 2026. 

Tobi was born on December 12, 1938, to Gavino Sr. and Maria O Noriega. She married the late Inez "Naya" Benitez and they were married for 25 years and still remained friends in their later years. Tobi worked for Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital for 27 years, 18 of those were spent in medical records retiring in 1997. Tobi loved to do crafts. Her favorite hobby was always looking for round rocks to paint red and then make into ladybugs. She always made her own cards for her family and friends. Tobi enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. Tobi was a lifetime member of Primera Iglesia Bautista where she volunteered as the church secretary for many years. Throughout the years she remained very strong in her faith.

Tobi is survived by her daughter, Maria Rodriguez (Frank); son, Abraham Benitez (Gena); sister, Ermelinda Noriega-Moyers (the late William); sister-in-law, Stella Noriega (the late Gavino); her eight grandchildren, Jessica Hernandez (Mark), Kristopher Benitez (Justi), Lisa Torres (David), Jason Rodriguez (Jessica), AJ Benitez (Desiree), Jonathan Benitrz (Amanda), Eric Benitz (Shanice), and Leah Ryse (Jefferey). She also leaves behind several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Ramon Benitez; grandson, Daniel Benitez; brothers, Ismael Ortega, Juan Ortega, Daniel Ortega, Santos Diaz, Saturnino Noriega, Jimmy Noriega, Antonio Noriega, Gavino Noriega Jr.; sisters, Delilah Meyer and Lupe Delgado.

Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Primera Iglesia Bautista, 1711 Ocotillo Drive, Alamogordo, NM, with a reception following. A private family graveside will be held at a later date where she will be laid to rest with her mother.  

The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
